Abstract:

Natural gas contains various oxygen-containing and sulfur impurities, which are corrosive. They enhance the corrosive activity of natural gas, lead to corrosion of the inner surface of gas pipelines. Corrosion processes destroy the inner walls of steel pipelines, resulting in gas leaks. The paper considers the causes of the corrosion processes of metal pipes. The factors affecting the corrosion rate of gas pipelines are identified.
