Abstract:

Many aspects of human life affect the quality of drinking water, which largely depends on the condition of the pipelines. As a result of their operation, corrosion (destruction of metal as a result of chemical attack) and biocorrosion, which depends on the aggressiveness of water, the amount of dissolved salts, pH, and the content of acid gases, occurs. Corrosion products have the smell of hydrogen sulfide and black color, and also contain up to 40% of ferrous iron. All this has an impact on the sanitary and hygienic qualities of water. Contaminated water causes a deterioration in people´s health, causing illness, disability.
